Denton Ballet Academy

Ten years ago, when she began taking ballet lessons, Hannah Schoendorf was one of the many wide-eyed baby ballerinas that the Denton Ballet Academy has taught for the last 30 years. Today, at the still tender age of 14, she spends her summers at the some of the most prestigious ballet programs across the country. In 2007 it was the Kirov Academy in Washington, D.C. In 2008 it was Pacific Northwest Ballet. And this past summer she pulled off the very tricky “duel citizenship” accomplishment by attending the School of American Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet in New York. Out of thousands who audition for these programs every year across the country, only a handful is invited. This year the Denton Ballet Academy had its highest number of attendees in its 30 year history. Fifteen students from the DBA were accepted to more than 10 of the most prestigious programs. Many, like Hannah, attended on full or partial scholarship. Like Hugh Nini, owner and instructor of the Denton Ballet Academy, says, “You never know what a four- year-old is going to do, today, or ten years from today.” The Denton Ballet Academy is enrolling for fall classes now. Come see what your four-year-old might do.
